I joined the snorkelling Club of Tameside Divers in 2016 and I progressed to Advanced Snorkel Diver. I like snorkelling and scuba diving as it gives me the opportunity to explore our beautiful coastline and observe the marine wildlife. Being trained the BSAC way enables me to carry out snorkelling in a safe manner knowing the associated risks.
I was introduced to Tameside Divers through a friend I met in college in 2008.
Snorkelling and scuba diving is like another world. It's peaceful to watch the sea life and bubbles. My encounters so far have been a turtle, crab, lobster and lots of jelly fish. I have yet to meet a seal and dolphin.
I joined Tameside Divers with my grandad when I was 8 years old as he is a scuba diver and he thought I would enjoy snorkelling. I like snorkelling and scuba diving because the ocean is a mystery to everyone and currently only 5% of the whole seafloor has been mapped so I like the fact that we can explore it through both snorkelling and scuba diving.
I joined Tameside Divers because I had finished all my swimming certificates and wanted to continue so I looked around and found diving.
I like snorkelling as you get to see the water from a different point of view, compared to just swimming across the top. You get to see all the animals that live there as well as all the things that are down there such as wrecks.
